Let \(B=\{f:[0,2\pi]\to {\mathbb{R}}\), \(f(t)=\sum c_ nb_ n(t)\), \(\sum| c_ n| <\infty\}\) where each \(b_ n\) is a function \(b:[0,2\pi]\to {\mathbb{R}},\quad b(t)=1/2\pi\) or for any interval I in [0,2\(\pi]\), \(b(t)=| I|^{-1}\chi_ R(t)-| I|^{-1}\chi_ L(t),\) L is the left half of I and R is the right half. \(| I|\) denotes the length of I and \(\chi_ E\) the characteristic function of E. B is endowed with the norm \(\| f\|_ B=\inf \sum| c_ n|,\) where the infimum is taken over all possible representations of f. We investigate some properties of B, then we show that the dual of B consists of the derivative of continuous functions g on [0,2\(\pi]\) such that \(g(x+h)+g(x-h)-2g(x)=0(h),\) also we give some applications of this duality theorem. While this paper was in press, the author and \textit{G. Sampson} showed in J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 27, 267-276 (1983; Zbl 0501.30040) that B is identified with the pre-dual of the Bloch functions, namely the space S of those analytic functions g on the disk such that \(\int^{1}_{0}\int^{2\pi}_{0}| g'(re^{i\theta})| d\theta dr<\infty,\) this identification is a Banach space isomorphism.
