      The \(\sqrt{-19}\) division points on the curve \(y^ 2=x^ 3-2^ 3\cdot 19x+2\cdot 19^ 2\) are calculated explicitly and used to determine the value of the character sum \[ S_ p=\sum^{p-1}_{x=0}((x^ 3-2^ 3\cdot 19 x+2\cdot 19^ 2)/p), \] where p is a prime \(\neq 2,19\). It is shown that \(S_ p=c\), if \((-19/p)=1\), and \(S_ p=0\), if \((-19/p)=-1\), where, for primes p satisfying \((-19/p)=1\), c is uniquely determined by \(4p=c^ 2+19d^ 2\), \((c/19)=(2/p)\), and (a/p) is the Legendre symbol.
