    In this paper the authors develop a theory of B-splines from the Fourier transform approach. They define a function \(g_{k,\ell}(x)\) on a monotonically increasing sequence of points \(\{t_ 0\}\) called knots, satisfying a recursive relationship involving divided differences. This function is shown to be a complex valued function of a real variable x in \(-\infty <x<\infty\). Then the complex Fourier transform of the function \(g_{k,\ell}(x)\) is a real valued function, which defines a general B- spline function \(C_{k,\ell}(x)\) at arbitrary knots. By using this definition they have established a number of well-known results and also some new results.
