Classical limits for quantum particles in external Yang-Mills potentials (Q799011)

A brief review is given of the classical theory of a particle moving in an external Yang-Mills potential as described by the Wong equations. The authors then give the quantum-mechanical formulation for nonrelativistic particles moving in an external Yang-Mills potential. They continue with results on coherent states and classical limits on Lie groups. After this, there is a section on classical limits for partition functions, and another on the classical limit for equations of motion. The authors consider the limit \(h\to 0\) for nonrelativistic quantum particles in external Yang-Mills potentials. It is shown that the partition function and the solutions of the equations of motion converge to their corresponding classical counterparts.
