In this paper the author presents a numerical solution to the laminar boundary layer flow past a uniformly rotating sphere. The equations governing the flow are solved by a finite difference procedure using the SOR method, which is based on the procedure suggested by \textit{Gosman} et al. [Heat and mass transfer in recirculating flows, Academic Press (1969)]. It is predicted that the transverse velocity is positive in the upper hemisphere, deceases to zero on the equatorial plane and becomes negative in the lower hemisphere. The solution agrees well with the analytical solution of \textit{S. D. Nigam} [Z. Angew. Math. Phys. 5, 151- 155 (1954; Zbl 0055.189)].
