Let \(\Omega\) be a smooth compact manifold of finite dimension without boundary and \(OPL^{m,M}(\Omega)\) the class of pseudodifferential operators P of order m whose symbols vanish exactly of order M on the characteristic set \(\Sigma\), defined by \textit{J. Sjöstrand} [Ark. Mat. 12, 85-130 (1974; Zbl 0317.35076)]. The author defines two kinds of parametrices for P-\(\zeta\), for some \(\zeta \in C\), and for each such kind he defines the complex powers \(\{P_ z\}\), \(z\in C\), of P. He proves a theorem on the first singularity of the trace of \(P_ z\) in order to study the asymptotic behavior of the eigenvalues of P when P is selfadjoint and semi-bounded from below. Since in the present case the first singularity of the trace of \(P_ z\) may be a pole of second order, the author extends Ikehara's Tauberian theorem in Lemma 5.2 for which he refers to \textit{N. Wiener} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 33, 1-100 (1932; Zbl 0004.05905)] and for the proof of which to \textit{W. Donoghue} jun. [Distributions and Fourier transforms (1969; Zbl 0188.181)].
