This is an expository paper concerning the structure and geometry of the Banach space \(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0\quad (=C(\beta N\backslash N)\) where \(\beta\) N is the Stone-Čech compactification of positive integers). Let us list the basic properties of \(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0:\) 1) \(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0\) is not a dual space; 2) \(ext(B(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0))=q(ext(B(\ell_{\infty}))),\) where \(q:\ell_{\infty}\to\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0\) is the quotient map (ext \(=\) the set of extreme points of, B \(=\) the closed unit ball of); \(3)\quad B(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0)=\overline{co}(ext(B(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0)));\) 4) \(B(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0)\) has no smooth points; 5) Any infinite dimensional complemented subspace of \(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0\) contains a subspace congruent to \(\ell_{\infty}\); 6) \(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0\) is the isometric isomorphic image of its square endowed with the ''max'' norm; 7) \(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0\) splits into two subspaces each of which is isometrically isomorphic to \(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0\); 8) \(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0\) splits into two subspaces such that one of them is isometrically isomorphic to \(\ell_{\infty}\) and the other is isomorphic to \(\ell_{\infty}/c_ 0\).
