This paper deals with the diophantine equation \(\Gamma\) : y\({}^ 2=x^ 3+Ax+B\), where A,\(B\in {\mathbb{Z}}\) and \(\Delta =4A^ 3+27B^ 2\neq 0\). For a quadratic extension field K of \({\mathbb{Q}}\) and some finite set S of prime ideals in K let R be the ring of S-integers in K. Then \(\Gamma\) (R), the set of solutions of \(\Gamma\) with x,\(y\in R\), is known to be finite by results of Siegel and Mahler, resp. in effective form by Baker and Coates. In this note a method is described by which all solutions in \(\Gamma\) (R), in many concrete cases for \(\Gamma\) and R, can explicitly be determined. The considerations are based on the existence of the trace homomorphism \(\sigma\) : E(K)\(\to E({\mathbb{Q}})\), \(Q\mapsto Q+Q'\) where E denotes the elliptic curve over \({\mathbb{Q}}\), defined by \(\Gamma\), with addition law \(+\), E(K) and \(E({\mathbb{Q}})\) denote the Mordell-Weil groups of E over K resp. \({\mathbb{Q}}\) and \(Q\mapsto Q'\) denotes the conjugation in E(K) arising from K. The investigation of the fibers of \(\sigma\) then leads to the above method.
