A notion of skew products of relations is defined and used to construct some interesting simple \(C^*\)-algebras. One example is an elementary construction of a stable simple \(C^*\)-algebra with no nonzero projections. Other examples illustrated various phenomena concerning the abundance of projections in simple \(C^*\)-algebras.
