This paper derives some implicit hybrid methods which use function evaluations from the previous step and the current step together with those from one or two off-step points. With two off-step points, large intervals of absolute stability are obtained. Some inconclusive numerical examples are given. These methods are special examples of (implicit) general linear methods. By placing stronger restrictions on the parameters, J. C. Butcher [BIT 21, 175-189 (1981; Zbl 0484.65048)] has derived singly-implicit general linear methods. Although they have lower order, Butcher's methods are more efficient for treating stiff problems than those proposed.
