Two-dimensional conformally invariant field theory is very popular both among theoretical physicists (for its physical consequences) and mathematicians (as another tool of representation theory). The majority of papers, however, even reviews, either assume that the reader knows what terms like vertex operators mean or deal with too general theorems. In the paper all definitions are given and results are made explicit in the simplest possible case: sl(2,\({\mathbb{C}})\)-invariant quantum field theory. Proofs, however, are left out.
