The author derives maximal regularity results for the solution of parabolic problems \[ \partial u/\partial t-A(t)u=f\text{ on } \Omega \times (0,T),\quad u(x,0)=u_ 0,\quad Bu=g\text{ on } \partial \Omega \times (0,T) \] under suitable assumptions in spaces of Nikolskij-type (which are in fact certain interpolation spaces). The term ``X is a space of maximal regularity'' means, that (say \(g=0\) for simplicity) \(f\in C([0,T],X)\) implies \(\partial u/\partial t\) and A(t)u\(\in C([0,T],X)\). The result is applied to prove (by a perturbation argument) local existence for quasilinear problems in those spaces. For maximal regularity results for abstract parabolic equations see \textit{G. Dore} and \textit{A. Venni} [Math. Z. 196, 189-201 (1987; Zbl 0615.47002)], similar results can be found in \textit{A. Lunardi}, \textit{E. Sinestrari} and \textit{W. von Wahl} [A semigroup approach..., preprint, Dip. Mat., Univ. Roma (1989)].
