The paper is devoted to the further study of problems investigated by \textit{S. Agmon} [Lectures on exponential decay of solutions of second- order elliptic equations: Bounds on eigenfunctions of N-body Schrödinger operators, Math. Notes 29 (1982; Zbl 0503.35001)]. The authors continue this development of geometric spectral analysis for the study of Schrödinger-type operators with nonisotropic potentials, which include N-body operators for molecules with nuclei that are not assumed to be stationary. Emphasis is given to the study of the finiteness or infiniteness of the eigenvalues below the essential spectrum.
