A simple and effective decentralized control design method for large- scale interconnected dynamical system is presented in this paper. The method is an extension to a previous attempt by the authors. Central to this approach is the elimination of the need for cross feedback among the subsystems comprising the global system. This may be achieved by generating two kinds of control signals at the subsystem level so that, when combined together, they form the control input to the respective subsystem. The first control signal, called local control signal, is generated from local state feedback, while the second, called supplementary control signal, is determined from models of the interactions among various parts of the global closed-loop feedback control system.
