Let \(V\subset {\mathbb{P}}_ N({\mathbb{C}})\) be an irreducible projective variety with isolated singularities, and let \(V'\) be its smooth part. It is proved that the \(L^ 2\)-cohomology \(H^{\bullet}_{(2)}(V',ds^ 2_{V'})\) of \(V'\) relative to the Fubini-Study metric \(ds^ 2_ V\) is canonically isomorphic to the intersection cohomology of V. The proof relies on a result of \textit{L. Saper} according to which this is true with \(ds^ 2_ V\) replaced by some other distinguished complete Kähler metric \(ds^ 2:=ds^ 2_ V+\nabla {\bar \nabla}\psi\) for some adequate smooth \(\psi\) : V\({}'\to (-\infty,0)\) on \(V'\). Then \(H^{\bullet}_{(2)}(V',ds^ 2)\) and \(H^{\bullet}_{(2)}(V',ds^ 2_ V)\) are compared. The proof is not complete; it is completed in: Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 26.
