For a general equation of the form \(x'(t)=\int^{\tau}_{- \tau}[d_{\theta}A(t,\theta)]x(t+\theta)+f(t)\) conditions are stated ensuring existence and uniqueness of solutions with initial condition \(x(t_ 0)=x_ 0\), satisfying exponential growth conditions. Essentially the conditions require the deviation of the argument to be sufficiently small. These conditions are compared and discussed in some detail for specific situations.
