For dissipative semiflows with strictly forward invariant state space \({\mathbb{R}}^ n_+\) Brouwers degree theory implies the sum of the indices over all (interior) fixed points to be \(+1\). In the present article, this result is extended to the case where part of the state space boundary is invariant. This is achieved by including into the index theorem some of the boundary fixed points (for which the notion of ``saturated fixed points'' is introduced). Some generalizations and applications (e.g., from mathematical ecology) are discussed.
