Presentation, theoretical discussion and practical implementation of a parallel algorithm for the solution of almost block diagonal systems as they result from the finite difference method for two-point ordinary boundary value problems. From the recursive nature of the problem no higher speedups than between 3 and 4 result, even for large number of processors.
