[For part I see the second author, ibid. 94, No.2, 284-313 (1991; Zbl 0729.65097, reviewed above).] The authors propose a recursive algorithm for computing the direct scattering transform (DST) of a discrete space or time series where the dynamics is described approximately by an infinite-line Korteweg-de Vries equation. The numerical accuracy of the algorithm is tested by considering several cases for which the exact DST spectrum is known. The effect of truncation, round-off, discretization and noise errors are specifically addressed. A way for estimating errors is developed and the nonlinear filtering of noise is discussed.
