The authors begin with a review of mathematical models for the non- Newtonian viscoelastic fluids and propose some new ones which may be considered as the generalized versions of the Oldroyd equations \[ v_ t+(v\cdot v)v+\nabla p-\nu \Delta v-\kappa \Delta v_ t+\lambda [v_{tt}+(v_ t\cdot \nabla)v+v^ k\partial^ 2v_ t/\partial x_ k^ 2+\nabla p_ t]=f,\quad \nabla \cdot v=0. \] The main results are existence theorems for these new equations and the description of their global attractors.
