      In the main result of the paper the author proves that if \(H^{\omega}\) is the class of all \(2\pi\)-periodic functions f such that \[ \omega(\delta,f)= \sup_{| x_ 1-x_ 2| \leq \delta}| f(x_ 1)-f(x_ 2)| \leq C\omega (\delta), \] \(\omega\) being the modulus of continuity, \(\delta\geq 0\), then there exists a continuous \(2\pi\)-periodic function \(f_ 1\in H^{\omega}\cap \Phi\) and a sequence of natural numbers \((n_ p)\) satisfying the condition \[ \| \sigma^{-\alpha}_{n_ p}(\cdot,f_ 1)-f_ 1(\cdot)\|_ C\geq C\omega^{1-\alpha}(1/n_ p)(n_ p/\Phi (n_ p))^{\alpha}, \] where \(1\leq \Phi (n)\leq n\), \(n=1,2,...\), \(0<\alpha <1\) and C is a positive constant. The author also calculates the corresponding estimates for \(f\in Lip 1\).
