A geometric property of the boundary of symmetric convex bodies and convexity of flotation surfaces (Q807977)

The paper investigates the surfaces of flotation of symmetric convex bodies in n-dimensional Euclidean space. A main result is that the flotation surface of a symmetric convex body is the boundary of a convex body. An essential tool in the paper is a certain quadratic form associated to the convex body K and each hyperplane H intersecting the interior of K. The positive definiteness of that form for every H characterizes (under certain assumptions) the symmetry of K.
