Let \({\mathfrak M}_{n,\lambda}\) be the family of pairs (P,M) where M is a Kähler manifold of real dimension 2n with holomorphic sectional curvature \(K_ H\geq 4\lambda\) and antiholomorphic Ricci curvature \(\rho_{\Lambda}\geq (2n-2)\lambda\), and P is a complex hypersurface of M. Then the function `relative volume' \({\mathcal V}: {\mathfrak M}_{n,\lambda}\to {\mathbb{R}}\) is defined by \({\mathcal V}(P,M)=(vol(P))/(vol(M)).\) The main purpose of this paper is to prove \({\mathcal V}\) has a minimum on the pair \(({\mathbb{C}}P^{n-1}(\lambda),{\mathbb{C}}P^ n(\lambda))\) and this is the only pair on which the minimum is attained. The fundamental tool for the characterization of the pairs realizing a bound is the Jacobi operator for submanifolds of arbitrary codimension and the expression of the metric tensor of the manifold in terms of this operator. The author gives also a theorem for tubes around complex submanifolds in Kähler manifolds which is in the spirit of the theorems of M. Gromov and S. Nayatani and which generalizes a result of A. Gray.
