The authors consider the system of equations \[ (1)\quad (du^ i_ j/dt)(t)=b^ i_ ju^ i_ j(t)[r^ i_ j- \sum^{m}_{k=1}\int^{0}_{-\infty}u^ k_ j(t+s)dv_ j^{ik}(s)]+ \] \[ +\sum^{n}_{\ell =1}d^ i_{\ell j}(u^ i_{\ell}-u^ i_ j),\quad u^ i_ j(s)=\phi^ i_ j(s)\geq 0,\quad -\infty <s\leq 0, \] where \(u^ i_ j\) represents the density of species i in habitat j, \(1\leq i\leq m\), \(1\leq j\leq n\); and \(v_ j^{ik}\) are bounded, real-valued Borel measures on (-\(\infty,0]\) with total variation \(| v_ j^{ik}|\) satisfying \[ \int^{0}_{-\infty}e^{- \gamma_ 0s}d| v_ j^{ik}| (s)<\infty \] for some positive number \(\gamma_ 0\). The dispersal coefficients \(d^ i_{\ell j}\geq 0\), \(d^ i_{\ell j}\neq d^ i_{j\ell}\) in general, may be functions or functionals of u for one result, but are assumed constant for the main result. The \(b^ i_ j>0\) are not necessarily nearly independent of j. It is proved that there exists a globally stable equilibrium solution provided that (a) intraspecific competition is strong relative to interspecific coupling (weakly interacting species), (b) the immediate (undelayed) deleterious effect of intraspecific competition on a species growth rate dominates the corresponding delayed effect, and (c) the habitats are nearly identical. The assumption of nearly identical habitats takes the form \[ r^ i_ j=r^ i+\Delta r^ i_ j,\quad v_ j^{ik}=v^{ik}+\Delta v_ j^{ik}, \] where \(\Delta r^ i_ j\) and \(| \Delta v_ j^{ik}| (-\infty,0]\) are small and \(v^{ik}\) are bounded Borel measures on (-\(\infty,0].\) This work is distinguished from previous work principally by the generality of the unbounded delays allowed and by the consideration of multiple, not necessarily identical, habitats. The mathematical techniques are adaptions of those used by \textit{R. H. Martin} and \textit{H. L. Smith} [Convergence in Lotka-Volterra systems with diffusion and delay, Proc. Workshop Diff. Eq. Appl., Retzhof/Austria 1989, Lect. Notes Pure Appl. Math., Marcel Dekker, New York].
