In a previous article the author gave necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability of iterated-integral operators called p-powers, which appear in connection with Volterra expansion for input-output maps of nonlinear systems. In this paper the corresponding discrete-time case is discussed, in which the p-powers have the form \[ H(x)(t)=\sum^{t}_{s_ o=0}...\sum^{t}_{s_ 1=0}k(t,s_ 1,...,s_ p)x(s_ 1)...x(s_ p),\quad t\in {\mathbb{N}}, \] where x and the kernel k are real-valued functions defined on \({\mathbb{N}}\) and on the set \(\{(t,s_ 1,..,s_ p)\in {\mathbb{N}}^{p+1}\); \(t\geq s_ j\geq 0\), all \(j\}\), respectively. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for H to be stable in the sense that \(H(\ell_{\infty})\subset \ell_{\infty}\), where \(\ell_{\infty}=\ell_{\infty}(N,R)\). Sufficient conditions for stability are derived in terms of the unordered summability of an associated family of symmetrical kernels. It is proved that these conditions are necessary for \(p=2\).
