      This paper concerns the question of permanence for general predator-prey models. The authors have shown that at least for two species models, a rather natural condition for permanence may be obtained. It is shown, by using an ``average'' Lyapunov function technique, that an average condition on the predator growth rate ensures that permanence holds.
