New sufficient conditions for the classical solvability of the mixed problem for the one-dimensional heat equation \[ U_ t- U_{xx}+q(x)U=f(x,t) \] are derived, with the use of a nonstandard approach to the Fourier method proposed earlier by the author. The main difference between these new conditions and already known consists in the absence of any smoothness assumptions for the function f(x,t) with respect to the variable x.
