The object of this note is to present some simple alternative techniques for establishing the orthogonality property of the classical Laguerre polynomials. One of these techniques emphasizes the use of generating functions and the other is based upon certain binomial-coefficient identities. The present note is motivated essentially by an earlier work on the subject by \textit{V. K. Srinivasan} [Int. J. Math. Educ. Sci. Technol. 10, 283-284 (1979; Zbl 0412.33011)].
