A ruled surface \(M\) in a Minkowski 3-space \(\mathbb R^3_1\) is a surface in \(\mathbb R^3_1\) determined by a parametrization \(x(s,t)= \alpha (s)+t\beta (s)\) where \(\alpha\) is a curve and \(\beta\) is a nonzero vector field along \(\alpha\). In this paper, the authors study ruled Weingarten surfaces \(M:x(s,t)=\alpha (s)+t\beta (s)\) in \(\mathbb R^3_1\), on which there is a nontrivial functional relation between a pair of elements of the set \(\{K,K_{II},H,H_{II}\}\), where \(K\) is the Gaussian curvature, \(K_{II}\) is the second Gaussian curvature, \(H\) is the mean curvature, and \(H_{II}\) is the second mean curvature. A classification of these surfaces is given. Moreover, the authors also study ruled linear Weingarten surfaces in \(\mathbb R^3_1\) such that the linear combination \(aK_{II}+bH+cH_{II}+dK\) is constant along each ruling for some constant \(a,b,c,d\) with \(a^2+b^2+c^2+d^2\neq 0\). It is proved that \(d=0\) and \(aK_{II}+bH+cH_{II}=0\) for such surfaces.
