This is a reply note to the position paper by \textit{D. Dubois} et al. [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 156, 485--491 (2005; Zbl 1098.03061), reviewed below]. The differences between intuitionistic fuzzy sets as introduced by Atanassov and those proposed and investigated by \textit{G. Takeuti} and \textit{S. Titani} [J. Symb. Log. 49, 851--866 (1984; Zbl 0575.03015)] are outlined along with an emphasis on the elucidation of the main rationale behind these two approaches. Furthermore some comments are presented with regard to the naming convention being used for such constructs.
