Let \(a\) be a uniformly almost periodic function (i.e., \(a\in AP\)) and let \(\Omega(a)\) denote its spectrum. For any additive semigroup \(\Sigma\subset[0,\infty)\) we denote by \(AP^0_\Sigma\) the set of almost periodic polynomials \(a\) such that \(\Omega(a)\subset\Sigma\), and by \(AP_\Sigma\) the closure of \(AP^0_\Sigma\) in \(AP\). By \(M(AP_\Sigma)\) we denote the maximal ideal space of \(AP_\Sigma\). It is proved that \(M(AP_\Sigma)\) is contractible. Moreover, assuming that the upper half-plane \(\mathbb{H}_+\) of the complex plane is dense in \(M(AP_\Sigma)\), there are proved the following statements: \(1^\circ\) for \(A\) satisfying the matrix version of the corona problem there is a matrix \(\widetilde A\) completing it; \(2^\circ\) if \(f\in AP_\Sigma\) is such that \(\inf_{z\in \mathbb H_+}|\widehat f(z)|>0\), then there exists a \(g\in AP_\Sigma\) such that \(f=e^g\).
