The author a new approach to the numerical evaluation of integrands over smooth surfaces in three dimensions. The paper is organized in four sections and an appendix. In Section 1, the steps of the basic method are presented. Then, he discusses briefly about the subject of variable transformations in numerical integration. In Section 2 the author derived the form of the integrand that is obtained following the various mappings. Section 3 contains a complete asymptotic analysis of the product trapezoidal rule. Section 4 presents an improved approach to the numerical computation of the integrand. In this approach the integrand is preprocessed by subtracting from it a suitable chosen function and the trapezoidal rule is applied to the modified integrand. Numerical examples which verify the validity of the theoretical results are also presented. In the Appendix a short discussion of the Euler-MacLaurin expansion relevant to the work is included.
