Let \(K\) be a compact set in \(\mathbb C\), \(h_j\in C(K), j=1,\cdots, N\) and let \(V:=\text{ span}\{h_j: j=1,\dots,N\}.\) If each \(h\in V\setminus\{0\}\) has at most number \(N-1\) of zeros on \(K\), then \(V\) is said to be a Haar space for \(K\). The concept of Haar space is related to the uniqueness of the best approximation. In fact, for each \(f\in C(K)\) there exists a unique \(h_0\in V\) such that \(\| f-h_0\| _{C(K)}=\inf\{\| f-h\| _{C(K)}: h\in V\}\) if and only if \(V\) is a Haar space for \(K\). For \(N\in \mathbb N\) and \(K\) a compact set in \(\mathbb C\), a function \(g: {\mathbb C}\setminus \{0\}\longrightarrow \mathbb C\) is called an \(N\)-dimensional Haar space generator for \(K\), if for any distinct points \(s_1,\dots, s_N \in \mathbb C\) and the functions \(h_j(z):=g(z-s_j), z\in \mathbb C, j=1,\dots, N\), \(V:=\text{ span}\{h_j: j=1,\dots,N\}\) is an \(N\)-dimensional Haar space for \(K\). If for every \(N\in \mathbb N\), \(g\) is an \(N\)-dimensional Haar space generator for \(K\), then \( g\) is called a universal Haar space generator for \(K\). Theorem 3.3 of the present paper is one of the main results of the authors, which may be stated as follows. Let \(K\) be a compact set in \(\mathbb C\). Assume \(K\) contains infinitely many points and also \(K\) contains isolated points. Then a function \(g\) analytic on \({\mathbb C}\setminus \{0\}\) is a universal Haar space generator if and only if \(g\) is of the form \[ g(z)={e^{Az+B}\over z},\quad A, B \in \mathbb C. \]
