    Let \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n\) be an open set; \(W^{1,\infty}(\Omega;\mathbb{R}^m)\) denotes the space of maps \(u: \Omega \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^m\) such that \(u \in L^\infty (\Omega; \mathbb{R}^m)\) and Jacobian \(Du \in L^\infty (\Omega; \mathbb{R}^{m \times n});\) \(W^{1,\infty}_0(\Omega;\mathbb{R}^m) = W^{1,\infty}(\Omega;\mathbb{R}^m) \bigcap W^{1,1}_0(\Omega;\mathbb{R}^m)\). Further, let \(\varphi \in W^{1,\infty}(\Omega;\mathbb{R}^m)\) be a given piecewise affine function; \(E \subset \mathbb{R}^{m \times n}\) a given compact set. Generalizing the results from the first author and [\textit{P. Marcellini}, Implicit partial differential equations. Progress in Nonlinear Differential Equations and their Applications. 37. Boston, MA: Birkhäuser (1999; Zbl 0938.35002)] the authors present sufficient conditions for the existence of a dense set of functions \(u \in \varphi + W^{1,\infty}_0(\Omega;\mathbb{R}^m)\) such that \[ Du(x) \in E\;\text{ a.e. } x \in \Omega. \]
