The paper deals with the following delay-differential equation with periodic coefficients and impulse effects \[ y'(t)=y(t)\left[\frac{p(t)}{q(t)+y^n(t-m\omega)}-\lambda(t)y(t)\right],\quad t\neq t_k, \tag{1} \] \[ y(t_k^+)-y(t_k^-)=b_ky(t_k^-),\quad k=1,2,\dots, \tag{2} \] where \(\omega>0\), \(p(t),q(t), \lambda(t)\) are positive \(\omega\)-periodic functions, \(0<t_1<t_2<\cdots\), \(\lim_{k\to\infty}t_k=\infty\), \(\{b_k\}\) is a real sequence, and \(m\geq 0\) is an integer. Problem (1)-(2) is motivated as an attempt to generalize a Mackey-Glass equation in respiratory dynamics, taking into account some periodic environmental fluctuations and possible abrupt changes. The author obtains some interesting results on this model. First, under rather general assumptions, it is proved that there is a unique positive \(\omega\)-periodic solution \(p(t)\), and that all solutions \(y(t)\) which do not oscillate about \(p(t)\) satisfy the limit relation \[ \lim_{t\to\infty}(y(t)-p(t))=0. \] Then, some sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure that all solutions of problem (1)-(2) oscillate about \(p(t)\). Also, it is proved that the periodic solution \(p(t)\) is globally attracting if an additional condition is fulfilled. However, such a condition seems to be rather difficult to check.
