Let \(\mathcal A\) be an epireflective subcategory of the category \(\mathcal Top\) of topological spaces that is not bireflective and \(\mathcal B\) be a coreflective subcategory of \(\mathcal A\). It is proved that \(\mathcal B\) is hereditary if and only if it is closed under the formation of prime factors. Some consequences of this result are presented.
