Let \(X\) be a topological space, \(Y\) be a Fréchet space, and let \(C(X,Y)\) be the set of all continuous functions from \(X\) to \(Y\). A subset \({\mathcal F}\subset C(X,Y)\) is called pointwise bounded equicontinuous if for each \(x\in X\) and each nbhd \(V\) of 0 in \(Y\) there exist: (i) an nbhd \(O\) of \(x\) such that \(f(y)-f(x)\in V\) for all \(y\in O\) and all \(f\in{\mathcal F}\), and (ii) an \(e_x>0\) such that \(rf(x) \in V\) whenever \(|r|<e_x\) and \(f\in {\mathcal F}\). The author proves that, given a subspace \(A\) of \(X\), the following are equivalent: (1) For any Fréchet space space \(Y\), every pointwise bounded equicontinuous subset of \(C(A,Y)\) extends to a pointwise bounded equicontinuous subset of \(C(X,Y)\); (2) Statement (1) with \(Y=\mathbb{R}\); (3) For any Fréchet space space \(Y\), every member of \(C(A,Y)\) extends to a member of \(C(X,Y)\).
