The self-gravitating ellipsoid has been studied by many physicists and mathematicians [see for instance \textit{N. Lebovitz}, ``The mathematical development of the classical ellipsoid'', Int. J. Eng. Sci. 36, 1407--1420 (1998) and \textit{S. Chandrasekhar}, Ellipsoid figures of equilibrum, New York: Dover Publications (1987), New Haven: Yale University Press (1969; Zbl 0213.52304)]. Recently, Rosensteel identified the phase space of the dynamical system associated with the self-gravitating ellipsoid with the algebra \(\text{sym}(3)\rtimes \text{gl}(3)\) where sym(3) denotes the symmetric \(3\times 3\) matrices and gl(3) the \(3\times 3\) matrices [\textit{G. Rosensteel}, Ann. Phys. 186, 230--291 (1988; Zbl 0646.70020)]. In [\textit{J. Carrero}, J. Math. Phys. 42, 1761--1778 (2001; Zbl 1032.37037)], Carrero introduced an arbitrary number of dimensions and studied in detail the coadjoint action of the group \(G= \text{sym}(n)\rtimes \text{GL}_+(n)\). In the present paper, the author proves the existence of an algebraic deformation quantization of the algebra of polynomial functions on a regular coadjoint orbit of \(G\). This deformation is given explicitly generalizing a construction introduced in [\textit{R. Fioresi} and \textit{M. A. Lledo}, Pac. J. Math. 198, 411--436 (2001; Zbl 1053.53057)] in the case of a complex semisimple Lie group.
