If the complex projective space \(\mathbb{C}\text{P}^n\) is equipped with the Fubini-Study metric, then the totally geodesically embedded real projective spaces \(\mathbb{R}\text{P}^k\) are distinguished submanifolds in many respects. In this article the author shows: \(\mathbb{R}\text{P}^{2m}\) is volume minimizing among the isotropic (= totally real) compact submanifolds of \(\mathbb{C}\text{P}^n\) which are \(\mathbb{Z}/2\) homologous to \(\mathbb{R}\text{P}^{2m}\) and \(\mathbb{R}\text{P}^{2m-1}\) is volume minimizing in its Hamiltonian deformation class. As a corollary, estimates for the volume of Lagrangian submanifolds (i.e., \(n\)-dimensional isotropic submanifolds) are given, which are contained in complete intersections of \(\mathbb{C}\text{P}^n\). The main tool in the proof is a formula from integral geometry due to \textit{R. Howard} [see Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 509 (1993; Zbl 0810.53057)], which relates the volume of a \(2m\)-dimensional isotropic submanifold to the number of its intersection points with the projective subspaces \(\cong\mathbb{C}\text{P}^{n-m}\).
