A quantitative version of Kirk's fixed point theorem for asymptotic contractions (Q819711)

The author introduces a variant of the notion of asymptotic contractions due to \textit{W.~A.\ Kirk} [J.\ Math.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 277, No.~2, 645--650 (2003; Zbl 1022.47036)] and give an elementary proof of his fixed point theorem, which provides an explicit rate of convergence, in contrast to, e.g., [\textit{I.~D.\ Aranđelović}, J.\ Math.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 301, No.~2, 384--385 (2005; Zbl 1075.47031)]. The idea is to use techniques from proof mining, as developed by \textit{U.~Kohlenbach} and \textit{P.~Oliva} in [Proc.\ Steklov Inst.\ Math.\ 242, 136--164 (2003; Zbl 1079.03045); reprint from Tr.\ Mat.\ Inst.\ Im.\ V.~A.\ Steklova 242, 147--175 (2003); see also \textit{U.~Kohlenbach}, Trans.\ Am.\ Math.\ Soc. 357, No.~1, 89--128 (2005; Zbl 1079.03046)].
