The fundamental inequality \[\frac{1}{2}\|A\|\le w(A)\le \|A\|\] has been the germ of various bounds for the numerical radius of \(A\in \mathcal{B}(\mathcal{H})\). Among other results, the paper under review presents the following inequalities \[w(A)\ge \frac{\|A\|}{2}+\frac{|\|\Re A\|-\|\Im A\||}{2},\] \[w^2(A)\ge \frac{\|A^*A+AA^*\|}{4}+\frac{|\|\Re A\|^2-\|\Im A\|^2|}{2},\] where \(\Re A, \Im A\) are the Hermitian/real part, imaginary part of \(A\), respectively. Characterization of equality is also considered. Theorem 2.10 and Theorem 2.16 have been too complicated.
