The author gives a proof of the good compactification theorem and a concrete algorithm for constructing such a compactification in the toric setting. The theorem states as follows: given a \(k\)-dimensional subvariety \(X\) of the complex torus \((\mathbb{C}^*)^n\), there exists a toric variety \(V\) such that the closure of \(X\) inside \(V\) does not intersect the orbits of \(V\) whose dimension smaller than \(k\). This theorem was first proven in the more general setting of homogeneous varieties by \textit{C. De Concini} and \textit{C. Procesi} [Adv. Stud. Pure Math. 6, 481--513 (1985; Zbl 0596.14041)]. In the toric setting, the good compactification theorem was also proved by \textit{D. Maclagan} and \textit{B. Sturmfels} [Introduction to tropical geometry. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2015; Zbl 1321.14048)] using Gröbner theory, and by \textit{J. Tevelev} [Am. J. Math. 129, No. 4, 1087--1104 (2007; Zbl 1154.14039)] using amoebas. The main contribution of the present paper is a concrete algorithm to find such a good compactification, and possible generalizations to toroidal compactifications.
