This interdisciplinary book describes the principles of photosynthesis by different examples. Approaches like human perception and explanations that are based on principles of quantum electrodynamics. The book is composed of eight chapters. The first chapter introduces the concept of the book. The second chapter deals with the nature of light, the personal perception of the light and the related history of light in the culture through out the times. It describes astrology and metaphysics of light, as well as its relation to the modern astronomy. Chapter three deals with electromagnetic light theory, it describes the wave phenomena and coherence and the double-slit experiment. The historic Ether theory is introduced and the light theory by Maxwell. The Fourier transformation is described, the interaction of the electromagnetic field with matter and the Feynman graphs. Chapter four deals with the interaction of light with matter with the mathematical theories behind it, with light absorption by organic molecule and with an example of combination of ring and chain of chlorophyll. Chapter five covers the principles of solar energy and with the fusion reactions. It describes as well the possibilities of the cold fusion. Chapter six deals with the biological principles of the photosynthetic apparatus of a living system. In chapter seven this principles are deepened by the so called light-driven proton pump. It introduces the idea of life beyond photosynthesis like the bacterial chemosynthesis. In the last chapter, chapter eight the relation of the photosynthesis to agriculture and food supply is explained. The food trade and the stock exchange are analyzed, the question is posed if the second law of thermodynamics drives the society into rich and poor. The ideas beyond the search for extraterrestrial life and intelligence are characterized. The books end with an epilogue from the old testament, the book of genesis, appendix one with the electromagnetic spectrum and appendix two with the gospel of John. At the end of the book we can find an extensive bibliography and index. In the book there are over 200 color figures and 13 tables. The book is a joy to read and recommended for everyone interested in photosynthesis and the nature of light.
