The authors present a level set approach to the numerical solution of the Stefan problem on non-graded adaptive Cartesian grids. They use the level set method to keep track of the moving front, and the finite difference method to solve the heat equations in each of the phases. Numerical results indicate that this method can simulate physical effects such as surface tension, and crystalline anisotropy are presented.
