    Let \(X\subset\mathbb C^n\) be open. The main result of the paper is the following disc formula for the Siciak extremal function \(V_X\): \[ V_X=E_{\mathcal B_{\mathbb P^n}^X}I, \] where: {\parindent4mm \begin{itemize}\item[--] \(E_{\mathcal A}H(y):=\inf\{H(f): f\in\mathcal A,\; f(0)=y\}\), \item[--] \(\mathcal B_{\mathbb P^n}^X\) is the class of all analytic discs \(f:\mathbb D\longrightarrow\mathbb P^n\) with \(f(0)\in\mathbb C^n\) that have a bounded holomorphic lifting \(\widetilde f:\mathbb D\longrightarrow\mathbb C^{n+1}\setminus\{0\}\) such that the boundary map \(f^\ast:=\pi\circ\widetilde f^\ast\) maps a conull subset of \(\partial\mathbb D\) into \(X\), \item[--] \(I(f):=\min_{\widetilde f}\int_{\partial\mathbb D} \lambda\circ\widetilde f^\ast\;d\sigma-\lambda(\widetilde f(0))\), \item[--] \(\lambda(z_0,\dots,z_n):=\log|z_0|\). \end{itemize}}
