Correspondences between modular Calabi-Yau fiber products (Q836905)

The paper under review presents two ways of constructing finite rational morphisms (correspondences) between fiber products of rational elliptic surfaces with section and some Calabi-Yau threefolds. Two types of correspondences are described. The first type consists of correspondences between a fiber products of rational elliptic surfaces with section and threefolds arising from these products by a fiberwise Kummer construction, focusing on the case when such construction leads to rigid Calabi-Yau threefolds. The second construction is based on the fact that an isogeny between two elliptic surfaces induces an isogeny between the fiber products of these surfaces with any other elliptic surface with section. These correspondences are studied by looking into isogenies between elliptic surfaces. The results are then applied to reestablish the modularity of some rigid Calabi-Yau threefolds defined over \(\mathbb{Q}\).
