    A weighted complex projective space is a quotient \(S^{2d-1}/S^1\) where the circle acts \[ e^{it}\cdot (z_1,\dots,z_d):=(e^{in_1t}z_1,\dots,e^{in_d}z_d) \] where the weights \(n_\nu\) are positive integers. This is a real Riemannian orbifold of real dimension \(2(d-1)\). The authors study the inverse spectral problem for these weighted projective spaces using wave-trace methods. They calculate the weighted length spectrum and the wave trace formula for orbifolds and establish the following result that one can ``hear'' certain information in this context: Theorem. Suppose the weights are pairwise relatively prime. {\parindent=6,5mm \begin{itemize}\item[(1)] If \(d=3\), one can ``hear'' the weights \(N_1\), \(N_2\), and \(N_3\). \item[(2)] If \(d=4\), one can ``hear'' all the pairwise sums \(\{N_i+N_j:i<j\}\) which will determine at most two different choices of \(N_i's\). \item[(3)] If \(N_1<N_2<\dots<N_d\), \(N_d\leq 2N_1\), and if the list \(\{N_i+N_j:i<j\}\) contains no repeated elements, then the set of weights is spectrally determined if \(d\) is not a power of \(2\) or the set \(\{N_i+N_j\}\) is not symmetric. \end{itemize}}
