This paper provides some new results on the question of which topological spaces occur as boundaries of word-hyperbolic groups. The authors describe an infinite family of such spaces. The groups considered are right-angled hyperbolic Coxeter groups whose nerves are flag-no-square triangulations of 3-dimensional manifolds. The spaces that occur as boundaries of such groups are some `trees of manifolds', which are spaces defined as inverse limits of appropriate systems of iterated connected sums of manifolds. Trees of manifolds first appeared in the paper [\textit{W. Jakobsche}, Fundam. Math. 137, No. 2, 81-95 (1991; Zbl 0727.57018)]. They are connected, homogeneous and hence have no local cut points. A large part of the paper is dedicated to the construction of flag-no-square triangulations for any 3-dimensional polyhedral complex, in particular for any 3-dimensional PL-manifold.
