The paper deals with a reaction-diffusion system containing nonlinearities of the gradient type. The aim of the paper is to study existence of globally bounded weak solutions or blow-up, depending on the relations between the parameters that appear in the problem. First, the authors introduce the notion of a weak solution and discuss issues of existence, uniqueness and blow-up. Then it is proved that one can pass from \(L^{\sigma_i+1}\) bounds to an \(L^{\infty}\) one, under various boundary conditions. In addition, the authors prove that the solution is more regular than the initial data, thus they obtain uniform estimates with respect to this data. In the final part of the paper, the authors prove that if the initial state is bounded then there exists a global weak solution that is bounded for any \(t\geq 0\).
