A generalized Cartan matrix \(A = (a_{ij})\) is a square matrix with diagonal elements equal to \(2\) where the off-diagonal elements are non-positive and if \(a_{ij} = 0\) then also \(a_{ji} = 0\). Such a matrix allows for the construction of a Lie algebra \(g(A)\). These Lie algebras can be integrated to produce simply connected topological groups \(G(A)\). These groups have a canonical involution and the unitary form \(K(A)\) is the fixed point set of this involution. These \(K(A)\) are the Kac-Moody groups. This paper shows that for a prime \(p\) and a simple connected \(p\)-compact group with Weyl group \(W_{X}\) where the order of \(W_{X}\) is prime to \(p\) and \(W_{X}\) is generated by pseudo-reflections of order two there is a Kac-Moody group \(K\) of the same rank as \(X\) and a monomorphism from X to the Bousfield-Kan completion \(K_{p}^{\wedge}\) of \(K\). This extends work of Kitchloo on rank preserving maps \(BX \rightarrow BK_{p}^{\wedge}\).
